Power in a marriage for either the man and woman was clearly something that they both contribute to having. For the woman it seemed to be a whole life's deal to working there way up to the position of being the best woman figure that there was and to living within the walls of the Harem. It seems that it goes along the guide lines of life where to as they ab id to only living to serf one idea and that one idea along is something that was to be carried for centuries on. Total darkness to whom the woman may eventually be with was a total mystery to her as well as to the men also. It may seem that the whole foreplay as we call it was not even heard of. For us in a way we can relate it to beaning as an immigrant who is looking to obtain the U.S. citizenship by finding a woman who is willing to be in an contract to marriage and along with that contract means that has to some what seem real to the immigration officers. By making it seem real enough to the immigration officers they some what take it far as to even having a child. In a way we can see this in the Harem with the Sultan and the slave girl that they do not even met and have any contribution to foreplay and so it is a game to at least become greater in power to having a son for the woman and all the means of power within the Harem among the woman as well as the men to finding a son that can over take the throne once time comes, for him at least it is to be able to impregnate as many woman possible that have sons to fight over the throne and be the sultan that has the blood line that is carried to power for the estate.
Another detail that I had found to be interesting is that for them the bloodline has to be somewhat pure but as you look back to the line it is not so pure. For the Sultan himself is the son of a slave where most the slaves were brought in from another place near Europe or Egypt. To me the line is lost it is not as powerful that they image to be.

The women's role during this period is very interesting. The power wiedlded by the women of the imperial harem was real, and that it stood in an organic relation to broader Ottoman political traditions and practice will be widely accepted. I thought you made good points and you gave information that I totally forgot.
