This documentary brings out many points towards the feelings and the events that took place after the suicide booming that took place. The the boomer Ayat Al- Akhar (Palestine) I had gone into a supermarket in Jerusalem where in the entrance of the store the bomb exploded, along side to her Rachel Levy (Israeli) died. Amazingly both of them have features that seem the same.
What had surprised me was the reactions of both mothers especially the mother of Ayat the way that she finds that there is nothing in her power that she can do and yet finds what her daughter had done wrong but in a way is an oxymoron when said that she wants everything that she can't obtain now before she would ever do anything therefore you are technically supporting what your own daughter did be right. I agree with Rachel's mother that there are other ways to be heard if they were to unite forces because not all of us in this world may think in a certain way, therefore to actually know if it is able to be done whatever it is that they would like to occur, they should try without that only maybe would be, what good could that be?
Another note that I took was the part of the girl would is imprisoned because she joined the cause of the martyrdom mission. What shocks me is the reaction how she tells Rachel's mother that she see the pain as a mother who lost a child but at the same time she deserves to feel that pain. To me I just don't find the connection that what was done to you should be paid to another person that has nothing to do with the problem should be done the same or worst situation. For me if it was my daughter in the position if I was the mother of Ayat I would have taken the offer of Rachel's mother of uniting together and let everyone understand yes we are different nations were both our nations are in a conflict but I would want to do state something, make a voice to be heard but at least I did something to fight against the odds.

I agree with you Celeste. I was so anxious to hear what Ayat had to say during the TV meeting between the two mothers. I don’t know if you caught it but Ayat and her husband smiled a few times while Rachel's mother was speaking. That was one reason what made me sympathize a little more towards Abigail. She showed deep sadness and devastation to the death of her daughter. Ayat on the other hand, didn't want to speak about her daughter's life rather she wanted to make Abigail believe that her daughter died for a good cause. The whole point Abigail wanted to meet with Ayat was to talk about their lost daughter's, not to debate about the conflict between the two nations.
ReplyDeleteThis film was an interesting one. But you have made some good points. I don't agree with this movie and what its all about. I feel that these plans with attaching a bomb to your body to blow up a public place is sane. I don't think this is a solution to all of the conflicts that the Muslims have. They need to find peace and I know one day they will
